At Seezona, we’re proud to celebrate the inspiring women behind the brands we love — especially those who are not only designers, founders, and creatives, but also mothers. This Mother’s Day, we’re spotlighting the powerful intersection of motherhood and entrepreneurship, starting with Anna Zepplin, founder of the jewelry brand Zepplin the Label.
In this candid interview, Anna shares how motherhood has shaped her vision, her creative process, and her day-to-day reality — balancing business with bedtime routines, design work with diaper changes. Her reflections are honest, deeply personal, and full of wisdom for any mother navigating the beautiful chaos of building something meaningful — both at home and in the world.
Becoming a mother changed how I approach everything, especially my business. I’m not just building a brand; I’m building a future for my family through something I love. I’m creating something I hope they’ll be proud of one day. It’s made me more focused (because time is precious), more intentional, and more driven to build something that lasts.
Definitely. Being a parent has created a special space for play and imagination. Kids are naturally so inventive — being around that energy reminds me to stay playful, take risks, and not overthink everything. Motherhood has also taught me the power of iteration and pivoting when something doesn’t go as planned. You can’t force children — and you can’t force creativity either. Both need space and trust to grow into what they’re supposed to be.
I think it’s important not to glamorize the hustle of working and mothering. It’s hard. It’s exhausting. Some days, it feels like I’m just trying to stay afloat. But it’s also incredibly rewarding — and pretty amazing to be raising the next generation.
A typical day is a balancing act (and honestly, a bit of a circus). Mornings are all about the kids: getting everyone fed, dressed, and out the door. I try to squeeze in a mental health walk before jumping into work during school hours — often with a baby on my hip.
Evenings from 4 to 8 pm are focused on dinner, bath time, bedtime — all the routines. We’re deep in it right now with three little ones — 6, 4, and 8 months old— so my husband and I are just doing our best to keep everything running with as few meltdowns as possible.
Once the kids are down, I try to tap into my creative work — sketching designs, building mood boards, or planning content. "It’s not always pretty, but we’re making it work and I feel so blessed to build a brand and be home with my family.
Start before you’re ready. You will never feel 100% prepared — and that’s okay. Iterate, pivot, and learn from your mistakes. Also, don’t look to social media for a roadmap or a timeline. If you’re starting small, just know it takes time… like, a lot of time. The so-called "overnight success" stories often skip over the 10–15 years of hard work behind the scenes. You have to ask yourself if you’re ready to weather the storms of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship — because honestly, it’s not for the faint of heart. You need unwavering commitment, passion, and maybe even a little bit of delusion to keep going when it gets tough. If you have that, then go for it full heartedly— and never look back. You can build anything you commit yourself to, you are the creator of your life.
For me, becoming a mom was like having a mirror held up for the first time. It made me reflect deeply on who I was, what I valued, and who I wanted to become, for my kids and for myself. That kind of deep self-reflection is one of the greatest gifts. For me, it came through motherhood, but it can happen in many different ways.
