We got the chance to talk more to the founders of the brand Phialebel. Phialebel is a women´s handbag brand inspired by the uniqueness of the founders' grandmother´s collection of vintage handbags. All Phialebel bags are proudly made in Spain using different textures, materials and colours inspired by nature. Get to know the founders and learn more about the brand in our exclusive interview with them!
Could you please give us a short description of yourselves?
Phialebel was launched by us, Leticia Vázquez and Belén Pérez-Torres. We both always envisioned a brand of handbags where traditions and innovation come together to achieve a product of great contemporary refinement. Leticia had a board experience in the industry as she had studied at Parsons School of design, as well as worked at Chanel and Christian Dior in New York. Belen had a bit of different background with a degree in protocol and law. We get a lot of our inspiration from our travels, art, and our surroundings - we always pay attention to all the aesthetic details around us.
How would you describe the style of Phialebel?
Phialebel is inspired by classic and vintage shapes. By combining prints, textures and materials inspired by nature, we are able to add a contemporary touch to our designs. Our pieces are made to become a timeless and contemporary accessory in every woman´s wardrobe. Proudly made in Spain, each piece is hand-crafted in small artisan factories with leather carefully sourced from European tanneries, principally in Italy and Spain, and with a strong focus on excellence in production.
How did you come up with the idea for the brand?
Both of us envisioned a brand with handbags where tradition and innovation come together. The final idea for Phialebel was born out of the inspiration from our grandmother's vintage handbag collection, that she collected during her travels around the world. Many of our designs are inspired by her collection of bags, but with a contemporary touch. Our purpose with the brand is to create a legacy rooted in excellence and innovation in leather craftsmanship. To achieve that we're combining artisanal expertise with a versatility of materials, and visions from two different generations.
Where do you find your inspiration?
We find most of our inspiration from textures, prints and materials from nature. All products are created of a mix of different textures, materials and powerful colours - with infinite possibilities and contrasts. Also, we're always flawlessly balancing classic shapes with modern utility.
Do you have any particular fashion memories from your career that has a special meaning to you?
One moment that we will never forget, is when the Spanish socialite and former model, Naty Abascal wore one of our handbags. Another big moment in our career was when Whitney Portman, from the reality show The Hills, wore our Sophia zebra bag in camel.
